The Horse With No Equal by Catherine
Grist
In dedication to Diamond Rio, my Tennessee Walker / Morgan cross
who had Navicular Syndrome.
He was a horse with no equal
A true black beauty indeed
And he worked with much patience,
Quiet disposition and ease.
He was worth less than those
Foaled by a pampered sire
Or those who had competed
Without any physical tire.
But he was the horse
With the kind, loving eye.
Never took a faulty step
Never should've been told goodbye.
He withstood hardships very painful at times
But his heart was as vast as his mind.
He performed without bucks, bites, or unwanted crimes.
He knew his purpose.
He stayed on track.
How difficult it will always be
For me to never look back.
In our hearts and our minds
He will always dwell.
The horse worth more than millions
The horse with no equal.
The Bay Mare by Sarah
The beauty of the bay mare
Goes well beyond her silky hair
Her eyes gleam
Her nostrils flair
As she rears up
And flies through the air
Galloping Horse by Sarah
The galloping horse seems to fly
Above the ground but below the sky
Wind whips her mane, sun lights her way
As the galloping horse flies away.
Nightmare's Stallion by Meg
There is a road
Where I walk my mile
Leaning into the night above.
There is a road
Where I walk my mile
And the shadows seek to please.
And near this road
Where I walk my mile
Another walks his own.
He is the sliver of the cheshire moon
In a glory all his own.
Moonspun and tales written
Of the glory of his soul.
Fire and flame can't touch the bone
Of fear's own dynasty.
He is my shadow
Walking his mile.
He is the second you breathe
The second you don't
And all the things that lie between.
He is a river of muscle alone
Standing in my wildest dreams.
Solace is the predator's eye
When the light settles his scene.
The tables have turned
And he is no longer the follower.
He is my leader.
I am the shadow.
And he's taught me to play the game.
He is the freedom I've always desired.
He is the pain I've always felt.
He is all things that catch afire
Yet the inferno cannot melt.
Somewhere in years that have yet to come
And in songs yet to be sung
He'll march alone
In my wildest dreams
In a glory all his own.
Horses of Image by CiLissa
Miller
Soar on Pegasus
Or fight on Alicorn's back.
Run with the African zebras
Or prepare for the knights' attack.
I'll join the centaur's battle.
Feel the wind rush
Hooves stomp and kick
As they run through the brush
Beneath the rider's weight
Muscles begin to move
Necks reach the finish line
And strides become smooth
Horses of every style
Prance with circus technique
Roaming the plains of Nevada
Up to the mountain's peak
The unicorn throws her pretty head
A young filly follows along
The stallion rears and challenges
His muscles bronzed and strong
The Lead Mare by Bruyere
(Heather S.)
Across an endless sea of grass
And underneath an open sky
With tossing head and flying mane
Her thundering hooves do fly
As fast as if to race the wind
The lead mare's hooves eat up the ground
Her stallion gone to roam the land
She will take his place for now
This task she does not nor will take lightly
So instead she plays her part
Her noble mind knows full and well
That freedom reigns inside her heart
And so the thunder of flying hooves
Grows never softer nor fades at all
With wild spirit that none can tame
She neighs an echoing, piercing call
Her herd behind answers her
Quickening still their flying feet
Forever for reasons yet untold
Each footfall matches each heartbeat
Countless legends say the same
The wild horses proudly ran
Under the shadow of mountains tall
Since the day that time began
And this mare shows she will not cease
Proudly proving how wild and free
She leads her herd under the sky
And across a grassy sea.
my master by Kelsey
A.
There I stand in the meadow
Waiting for the sun
Thinking and wondering
What I could have done.
If I just took one more gallop toward that jump
My master wouldn't have gone over
Wouldn't have hit that lump.
Now he's gone and there's nothing I can do
But I hope he knew I loved him too
Sailing by Adriane
Her gracefulness runs through her body
Mane splashing in all directions
Tail sailing high
Barely touching the ground as she runs
Like floating in midair
So happy and free
Running wild as a mountain stream
Buried inside ferocious anger
Traveling through her body with lightning speed and grace
Unicorn by Adriane
A magical creature in the deep forest
Its beauty to be seen by only those who believe
It's almost like a ghost
One minute there, the next it's not
Haunting your mind
Was it just a thought?
You sit there in wonder
Waiting for it to reappear
A flash of white
What a beautiful sight
Horns of steel
That heart of gold with the power to heal
Now you shall know
They are real
Just A Memory by Avery
Just a memory
Written in my mind
Just a story of another time
Just a time
Just a place
The memory is but a trace
Things begin
Things end
But it is most painful when
Things we love come to an end
And are just a memory
Relief by Jessie
As the world whips by
I hear the beat of my horse's pounding hooves
The concerns and worries of life rushing away
In a fury of wind and leaves
CHANGES by Jessie
Through the warmth of spring
On horses' wings
I ride through the mid of night
The glory of the flight
As I ride on horses' wings
All too soon disappears the night
As well as spring
